Port Kembla Land Transformation Project

A State-Assessed Rezoning Proposal is now on exhibition on behalf of BlueScope Steel in relation to approximately 200 hectares of land along Five Islands Road, Port Kembla aimed at transforming the precinct into an industry and innovation hub.

The proposal has as its key objective “a refreshed suite of planning controls that facilitates the future progressive development of the Precinct with a focus on land uses that support the adjacent operational steelworks land but which do not rely upon or impact upon its function and which may also complement the ongoing strategic operations of Port Kembla Port.

The Project is also attuned to service the wider region as an appropriate location for advanced manufacturing, education and sustainability focussed technologies, with careful consideration for provision of complementary land uses such as commercial office and retail.”
